The Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society and the Banatao Institute (CITRIS), in partnership with the Academic Innovation Catalyst (AIC), have launched the CITRIS Innovation Fellowship program and the AIC Awards, aimed at transforming University of California research into viable commercial solutions to address society’s most pressing challenges.
The program, made possible by Matt and Lisa Sonsini, will further CITRIS’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship for societal benefit.
Principal investigators from UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Merced and UC Santa Cruz, as well as researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory who hold PI status at the University of California, are invited to apply.
Three fellowships of up to $200,000 over two years are available. The awards must be used to translate laboratory research into a product, platform or service that could be adopted in the marketplace.
Projects in all areas of relevance to the mission of CITRIS will be considered, and other domains may also be considered. For this inaugural year, the following areas are of special interest: advanced aviation, aerospace, AI for good, climate resilience and other deep tech applications.
Please contact Ravnit Plaha, CITRIS development manager, at ravnit@berkeley.edu with any questions.
